It's A Kind Of Magic ...

The last two days we had friends and neighbors over for showers, internet and phone access, and dinner. We were lucky enough to lose power for only a few hours, but immediately across the street the entire block was out of power until at least today.

This morning our friend Jerry stopped by to check his email (although he had power back, his phone and internet service was not restored yet). We came to talk about how the outage fried my laptop, and he asked to see what was wrong. So I went and got it, and pressed the power button, and lo and behold, it turned on!!! Oh happy day. Thanks, Jerry.

Off to work. While I started connecting the radiators in the Stube (our private dining room), E! slapped a second coat of paint on the bar, sanded the taped joints in the main entrance and northern wall of the beer hall.

With sadness we learned of the passing of our dear neighbor Marie Terpening, 88. She will be missed.

Dirk
